To maintain the Cardea finishes we recommend wiping the item with a micro-fibre cloth to remove dirt deposits and polishing with a good quality metal polish. It is available in unlacquered brass and polished nickel finishes. The copper/zinc mix will pass for "old-time brass" reflecting the colours all around on its glorious golden surface. Cardea Polished Nickel is a plating solid brass and will generally require little maintenance as nickel is a relatively slow ageing metal. The escutcheon comes with fixings and screws. The application of a light wax after cleaning can be beneficial but is not essential. The polished nickel finish has a very durable, smooth, shiny finish that can appear to change in colour with different lighting. We do not recommend the use of liquid polishes which will leave residue. The unlacquered brass finish is a copper/zinc mix that ensures quality. If the product is used outside it will oxidize and tarnish well. Sold as SINGLES with fixings. The Cardea Ironmongery oval escutcheon is a long slim oval-shaped escutcheon in standard profile for use with standard UK locks and has a visible screw-fixing at each end of the escutcheon.
